Stu and the Norfolk Dumplings
As a team of 8 intrepid (or stupid!) individuals from Norwich Union we will be taking part in the “3 Peaks ‘No Laughing Matter’ challenge”
“Why”, you might ask “are we doing this?” Well at the beginning of the year we got talking and mentioned that we fancied a challenge for the coming year, talks progressed and we settled upon this particular challenge to help fund the Act4Africa’s AIDS prevention Education and Behavioural Change Programmes in Africa. What we will be doing is climbing Ben Nevis (Scotland), Scafell Pike (England) and Snowdon (Wales) within 24 hours We have already embarked upon training – which includes the three peaks of Norwich (Gas Hill, Ketts Hill and Mousehold Hill)! and now we are looking to raise 7,000 as a team to be eligible to enter this challenge. We really appreciate your contributions that will help us achieve this goal A Note from Act4Africa It cost just 1 pound per person to deliver a comprehensive HIV and AIDS Prevention Education Programme in Africa. That's potentially 1 pound to save a life and ensure that people in Africa don't die of ignorance. Our teams in Africa (who deliver most of our AIDS education programmes) face untold opposition - they have been threatened by witch-doctors who do not want them to share the truth about AIDS, they have been attacked and run out of communities and villages by tribal elders who do not want them to empower women and enable them to take control of their sexual health. But it inspires our African teams to know that people in England give a damn about their futures and the futures of their communities. In some of the areas where we work, over 70% of the adult population is HIV positive. Those communities will no longer exist in 20 years time unless we step up our work. www.act4africa.org.uk |
